​Working in a spiritual and intuitive nature, Runner uses color, cosmic images and nature to reflect our inner dialogue and question our social and spiritual beliefs. With torches and heat guns, Mary Runner works primarily in encaustic. She enjoys the process of moving the melted wax, allowing uncontrolled movement at time representative of the chaotic nature of the universe. Multiple translucent layers overlay, building depth and intricacy within each piece.
