ABOUT
Award-winning San Antonio artist, Cindy Morawski, paints the subjects of landscapes and animals with pastels. A charter member and president of the Texas Pastel Society, she has created art since childhood. Cindy also enjoys painting plein air landscapes outdoors with the Texas Pastel Society. Teaching and painting are two of her favorite things. She currently teaches art to adults and children in her home studio. She also frequently does art demos for groups and community events. An outdoor enthusiast, she tries to capture the light and colors of her subjects in nature within her compositions.
Her artist statement helps provide some personal insights. "I take artistic and spiritual inspiration from the natural world and then try to place it in a window for my viewer to appreciate. I want the viewer to feel as though they are standing where I am and looking out, appreciating the scene and feeling the awe in the goodness and beauty that nature provides."
Cindy's paintings can be found in several art galleries and shops: BesArte in LaVillita, River Art Gallery at LaVillita, Mockingbird Studio & Gallery in Northwest San Antonio, Comfort Crockery in the Hill Country town of Comfort, Yellow Rose Gallery in Rockport, Granny M's Creations in Castroville, Mitchell Lake Audubon Center's Gift Shop, and Flower Me Gifts in Northwest San Antonio. An online gallery can also be accessed through her website.
STATEMENT
I take artistic and spiritual inspiration from the natural world and then try to place it in a window to appreciate. I want the viewer to feel as though they are standing where I am and looking out, appreciating the scene and feeling awe in the goodness and beauty that nature provides. I get inspiration for my pastel paintings from nature through camping, hiking, and photography. I grew up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania, so I was surrounded by seasonal changes in the landscapes. By being a part of that, I grew to love the land and wildlife and all that it had to offer.
