Hye Coh is an artist living in San Antonio. Her life is continuously evolving as she strives for newness.

 

In her youth, Hye earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. Her artistic life started when she turned 40. She entered Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, with a full scholarship, and graduated with a B.F.A. in Illustration in 1990.Hye has worked in the field of Animation for over 20 years, specializing in Background / Matte / Texture Painting for 2D & 3D Feature Animation. She has worked with major studios globally in Los Angeles, Sydney, Toronto, London, including Walt Disney, DreamWorks, Warner Bros, Starz and Framestore.

 

Recently she took a big step in changing her career direction toward Fine Art painting, through which she can express more of her own self.  

 

Hye likes to use the human form as a starting point for her painting, then develop toward the figurative abstract. She pursues vitality, freshness, spontaneity with her fluent, effortlessness brush strokes. Hye aims for her work to transcend beyond storytelling or capturing a likeness. Through her art, she hopes to awaken the viewer’s hidden senses and inspire.
